New Life

Meet Antonio, the newest addition to our household :)

We are having company this weekend, so I decided to get some flowers in the front bed beforehand. In the process of picking out blooms for the flower bed I found this fantastic clay pot for the front porch. Instead of putting more flowers in the pot, we decided to look for a "tree thing". Enter Antonio. Gorgeous and perfect. Now here's hoping the cat will accept the tree thing as part of the family and not eat him....

Birthday Prep

In just a few days my handsome, wonderful, perfect, little (but not so little) nephew will turn 1!! I can't believe it's almost been  a year since we all gathered round his momma waiting to meet him for the first time. It was a long, very hard day on everyone with the usual mix of family and the drama some of them can bring. But at the (very) end of the day,  all was more perfect than we could have asked for when Tony James Potter showed his adorable face.

Today he is running about in his wobbly, adorable way in his 2T(!!) clothes wrecking any havoc he can find. And tomorrow our family will gather once again to celebrate the life of this gift we've been given.

As quickly as he is growing, his momma asked that we help stock him up on clothes. So to keep mine and Uncle's gift from being too boring, I decorated TJ's gift bag :D
Here's my project:

Ready for Spring to be Sprung

The weather may be having a hard time deciding what season it should  be, but I'm completely over this whole winter ordeal and have moved on to Spring Time!!! And there are a few flowers in my yard that appear to agree with me :) At some point in the history of my rent house, someone  planted tulips along the front of the house and around one of the trees. We got one "accidental" bloom last year and it looks like a few more are already trying. I'm gonna see what I can do to help them along.

So to get my  household ready for some springtime action, I got my wreath finished and hung this last weekend!

I'm in love with using initials in decor and I think this wreath is going to serve us well over the next couple of months :D

Relax, Reflect, Rejuvenate

It's been just over a year since I started this blog. I may not have been great at keeping up with it, but honestly I have done better than I expected.

The last few months really have brought to light what a juggling act life can be. My job has been a challenge, to say the least, and I've made a point to keep myself busy outside of work as well. And then there's what my dad always referred to as "the underbrush of life"..... (Damn dishes.)

But as I struggle to keep myself in balance, in check and the least amount of insane I wonder how other women manage it all. And why do so many of us feel the need to be Wonder Woman. Sure I love how the tights make my ass look, but that's just not a daily-wear kinda outfit.

One great thing about this past year is that I started crafting alot more. And I'm hoping to be better about sharing my crafts over the next year! I have an adorable spring wreath in the works currently, so be looking for pics :) I've also made an effort to host friends and family in our home as much as I could. Nothing brings more joy into a home than good food and great company!

So I guess all I can do is stretch those damn (metaphorical) tights back over my thickening thighs and tackle another whirlwind year of love, food and laughter.

3 Day Challenge

Today the hubby and I started a diet plan we found over the weekend. It's a 3 day, scant yet balanced meal plan. blessedmommy here has all the details. Basically it's 3 specific meals for 3 days that are supposed to interact with each other to boost your metabolism, etc. More or less it kicks you body into high gear in a fat burning kind of a way. 8-10 pounds of weight loss in 3 days..... Here goes nothing :)

We have already survived the first two meals of Day 1, but hubby is a little concerned about not being able to snack lol. Breakfast and lunch were pretty small, but dinner sounds like a feast. 3 oz of meat (we bought salmon filets!!), 1 cup of green beans, 1 apple, 1/2 banana and  1 cup of ice cream. Yes! Ice cream! Definitely my kind of diet.

Exercise is encouraged, of course. Hubby's working on his truck build today and that's about as close as he's gonna get. I plan on hitting up the YMCA for the next couple of nights. Shouldn't be too big of a problem since I won't really be cooking dinner ;)

Pizza, Pizza!

This was an amazing BBQ chicken pizza the hubby and I made! All you do is mix barbeque sauce in with the tomato sauce. Then we topped with shredded chicken, mozzarella and pineapple. Delicious. I'm thinking next time we'll also sautee up some red onions and mushrooms.

Birthday Muffins <3

Yesterday the love of my life turned 25 :)

We had ourselves a nice lazy day of lounging around, watching TV and eating. Always lots of eating.

To start out our eating I got up and made my hubby his new favorite..... Pumpkin Cheesecake Muffins!

They are super delicious and actually pretty simple. My hubby doesn't really like cakes and cookies and such so it makes me so excited to find recipes he really enjoys. These muffins are destined to be a part of our lives from now on.
